Homestuck Re-read Part 24: All things that go up must come down.

The joy and elation of having implemented a javascript runtime that I could easily bind to my go program is now tempered by the fact I cannot seem to find a good way to generate bindings and type hints. I have come so far and yet at the last hurdle I am stumbling. I've spent all day trying to hack together different methods for it and I feel that I have made zero progress. I am resigned to trying to hack together some awful AST parsing shit. Please, wish me luck.

My only solace is that once it is done I can reuse this in projects for a long, long time.

homestuck

We're back with apparently troll-hussie. He's got grey marker scrawled all over his skin and a Kanaya shirt!. Things then escalate in terms of meta-ness as we become MSPA reader for the first time. I can't wait until I run out of Homestuck and do friendsim and pesterquest so we can join back up with this guy. In a fit of nerd rage Hussie inflicts a replay of troll romance on us. Slick moves us along.

Sollux is like a shitty cat, he has 3 lives.

It kinda makes you feel bad for Clubs Deuce he just wanted to be kind and greet Sollux properly and got blown up for his efforts. Why is there so many brains. Meanwhile Tavros and Vriska are raking in the boonbux. The Seer of Mind communicates with an exiled black queen.

LOLCAT

I love her, shes so adorable. Nepeta's land spelling out LOLCAT (land of little cubes and teapots) is such a cute joke. Its such a. lead in to. Oh god.

I didn't forget about these, but I thought it'd be a bit longer until the first. I remember these getting fucking confusing to follow at a certain point, with multiple past/present/future versions of the same characters showing up. We get to read a message from Sollux right before he dies and gets banned for it; rip I guess.

Absolute iconic Terezi happy pose. I love her.

A relatively from the future from some perspective Eridan airs the fact he has a problem with Feferi in public. Wait does this mean operation regisurp happened before all the trolls were in the session? Since his problem with Feferi was basically right after he joined the session. Oh hey I forgot future Vriska's handle is FAG.

TOO BAD THE ACRONYM WASN'T "HAG" INSTEAD, IT WOULD HAVE SUITED YOU MUCH BETTER.

INSTEAD OF THAT NONSENSE WORD

MAYBE ITS ASSOCIATION WITH YOU WILL COLLOQUIALLY CAUSE IT TO TAKE ON A NEGATIVE CONNOTATION, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

MAYBE FAG WILL BE "THE NEW BURN!" EVEN THOUGH IT REALLY MEANS NOTHING IN OUR LANGUAGE.

I also again continue to feel very bad for Tavros. He's such a sweet fella even when he really shouldn't be. Hearts Boxcars wants to continue the kissings and such.

SN0WMAN

I love her design so much. She has such a striking figure and pose and the aesthetics of her outfit is fucking amazing. If I do ever work out a two-tone printmaking method I definitely want to try and do her justice.

I believe this is the first time we learn/hear about THE FORGE. And the first time we see a more vulnerable Karkat, talking about a good time with his lusus. Kanaya stayed in and read stories to hers. They both sound, so nice and calm and friendly compared to the atmosphere you come to expect of Alternia. We do later see in friendsim that Alternia isn't quite as much of an apocalyptic free for all live fire zone as you might expect, but it's still a nice image. We also get our first instance of a second future character with FUTURE KARKAT 2. We get to see the end of the timeline, as presented by Trollian.

Theres a lot of good Terezi panels this upd8. She knows Karkat's blood, the scent of it escapes through his skin. The smell of being born with sin in the eyes of Alternia is strong, especially for one that carries such punishment. Death is the outcome for even acknowledging the potential existence of a candy blood but Terezi will hide his secret for him.

[S] MAKE HER PAY

This is, as they say. The big one. We get to see the psychic double reach around that leads to Terezi being blinded in retribution. Vriska controls Tavros, Tavros controls Terezi's lusus. The Lusus wakes Terezi in a drea and has them walk outside on Prospit to view Skaia. Her unconscious body walks out into the alternian daylight. The intensity of the sun destroys her irises, rendering her blind.

We see a long montage of the trolls fucking up minions on their lands, and even get to catch a sight of Aradia finally getting some revenge by physically beating Vriska even more blue. Smashing her around like that you are definitely reminded that higher blood castes do certainly become stronger, cerulean bloods can take a fuck ton of punishment.

It always unnerves me how some of these flashes will have the prettiest artwork and have it on screen for what feels like a fraction of a second.

Vriska Serket performing the psychic double reach around. Closeup of face in silhouette except for her blue blood.

Gorgeous landscape scene of the forest around Terezi's hive. It's blue with purple leaves.

Terezi on Prospit looking up towards Skaia. Everything is a lit in a resplendent gold light.

Terezi on Alternia looking up at the sky through a clearing in the forest roof. Blue trees and purple leaves block the sky.

An extremely painterly image of Aradiabot, painted in a deep purple hue.

Vriska laying on the floor, splattered in her own blood.

Aradiabot feeding Vriska a knuckle sandwich, blood splattering and glasses flying off towards the camera.

Atta girl.

Diamonds Droog and Aradia are in alignment. They skip to the end to form an army of doomed selves. I don't know what this style of narration is, but I adore it so much. The slightly drawn out pacing, the matter of fact delivery or the knowledge we're about to learn something essential to the story. We learn about the scratch. The image decays away into the crackling green lightning we associate with the first guardians Bec and Doc Scratch and something else, that we don't yet know about. It lead to the entrance of something far more powerful then the black king the trolls slayed, killing even more Aradiabots.

The trolls are adrift now, unable to return home to Alternia and unable to inherit the universe they had created.
