Homestuck Re-read Part 35: [S]CASCADE

I did not expect there to be an upd8 today, especially since they seemed to have stopped doing them on saturdays. I was a bit annoyed there was one, since I spent so long doing yesterday's. But.

I checked the adventure log to count how long it is, and I saw something more important then a page count.

Today is [S]Cascade Day.

We start out with a conversation between Karkat and Jade, right before the critical moment. The courtyard deuce is descending to Jade's land atop a parachute dropped crate of shaving cream. And that's it. The timeline in Trollian cuts out.

The courtyard droll bombed Jade, killing her. The last tadpole lands in the volcano.

Bec Noir, part good dog best friend, is extremely fucking distressed.

He is going to take that fact out on the courtyard droll, it seems.

So much happens in Cascade.

Ok, for writing this I'm going to reference the official version uploaded to YouTube. Just so I can rewind and shit.

It starts out with John getting ready to initiate the scratch. He fights off the denizens on Dave's land to prepare.

We then switch to Bec Noir, having slain the courtyard droll and now standing over Jade's body. It switches to him stood before the Genesis Frog in the troll's session, and him attacking it with red miles. They infest the beta kid's universe.

We catch up with the exiles. They're preparing to detonate the bunkers. The exiled white queen waits for a seed to complete, and out comes the white king. Together again, at last. Unknown to them, another will complete in 10 seconds.

Noir takes Jade's body and leaves it on her quest bed. Whatever amount of him Bec makes up, it does one last thing to protect her. Bec flies off and inserts himself into the time capsule, and emerges to slay the white king and queen moments after they're reunited. He slays the Authority Regulator. He punches a hole through the mayor to take the uranium he consumed, and powers a machine. He appearifies(?) himself into the troll's session. He wasn't banished, he was seeking new lands to conquer. WV lays dead on the ground, the queen's ring unprotected. Only the Parcel Mistress remains.

We watch the entire devastation Bec bought to the troll's session, before catching up with Derse's moon and Dave and Rose. In position, they delve into the moon's heart and find sacrificial slabs for themselves. The suicide mission ends in death but also apotheosis. The tumor splits in half, a countdown between two universes. One infested with red miles while the other is home to a duel.

Spades Slick draws and kills Sn0wman, destroying the troll's universe.

Jade died on her quest bed. The witch of space will walk again. Her dreamself is technically alive, after all. Risen as a sprite. She inherits the full powers of a witch of space, a sprite and a first guardian. She raises a Prospitian warship and begins to fulfil the choice. The battlefields, the lands, the denizens and their consorts must be preserved.

The Parcel Mistress mourns the death of her new friends. She sees the white queen's ring by the mayor's body. She puts it on.

Jade begins to enlarge the fenestrated wall. Large enough for the battleship to pass through.

Everything happens, all at once. The tumor is detonated, creating the green sun. It's bright enough to be seen across paradox space, and Sollux moves the meteor towards it. A ringed-up Parcel Mistress arrives behind Bec, and take flight towards it, fighting along the way. She will make him pay.

Dave and Rose are alive again, they god tiered in the detonation and are greeted by Sollux and Aradia.

The Prospitian battleship piloted by Jade fires through the fenestrated wall.

Cascade is over, and with it act 5.
