Vampire: The Masquerade Solo Play, Session 0
Here I am trying to start a V:tM solo play game, with me hopefully writing it down to keep track of it.
How this works
I have no idea. I've never done any of this before. I've not played V:tM (other then bloodlines) or any solo RPG before. I'm going to be using the rules in Tourniquet: V5 Edition just because it seems to be what most people use? I have no idea what to expect.
Chronicle
I do have a specific idea I want to play out, my friend Serena wants to run a game set in New Orleans in 2001/2002ish. I have an idea for a character I want to play, but they received the embrace in Somewhere Else, 1970s-ish. I wanted to try out doing solo roleplay to see what happened in the middle. It may also partly to be a desire to play out my fantasies of being an immortal lesbian vampire in service to the Camarilla. Who knows.
Character Concept
After playing Bloodlines I became a bit infatuated with World of Darkness lore and the sort of insane way it all sorta fits together. One of the things I remember finding out was that the NSA was apparently uniquely resistant to kindred infiltration. I think I was wrong about this, or this may have only been after the formation of the second inquisition, but I believed this was due to Mage/Technocracy/NWO influence. It also gave me an idea for my character.
I wanted to play a vampire who was a fresh recruit for some three-letter agency, an intelligence officer or an analyst or something similar. At some point during their training they met and fell in love with an odd, older woman. She was pretty, assertive, loving. Everything our 'protagonist' wanted in excess, at all hours. By the time she was finished with her training she was wrapped around her girlfriend's finger, and incase she came unwrapped they'd created enough kompromat to be kept compliant. She didn't really realize it, but all the little favours and things she'd mention about her day had effectively made her a mole and an unwitting double agent, but for something far more sinister then a rival agency or communist state.
The Embrace
Worse then being a KGB officer, her girlfriend was a Camarilla official, tasked with spreading the undead influence of the ivory tower within US intelligence. The operation may not be going to well however, on account of the fact she became obsessed with a single specific potential recruit. Things went from bad to worse when after years of lying to her superiors about her progress, the one intelligence community insider she embraced was fired within the month.
What Happened Next
I don't know! I believe that is what I'm going to find out once we start playing.
